Review about Viagra: side effects, efficacy and dosage

Viagra is a common drug used to treat prostate disorders or to treat erectile dysfunction. It is widely thought to be very effective in treating these disorders and has been proven to be so in clinical trials and studies. In these trials, men taking the drug were used as the experimental group and men taking a placebo were used as the control group. The men taking the placebo were not told they were taking one in order to ensure accurate results. The results which were pooled from five flexible-dose studies showed that the men taking Viagra showed a significant increase in the ability to penetrate as well as erection maintenance in comparison to the placebo group. It was noted that those taking Viagra saw a 90% increase from the baseline in ability to penetrate when compared to those who were not taking the drug. This translates to the men taking the drug were able to have successful penetration most times, while men taking the placebo only had successful penetration a few times. Furthermore, the ability to maintain an erection was improved in the men taking Viagra versus the men taking the placebo. In this study, men saw a 122% increase from the baseline in the ability to maintain an erection, while taking Viagra. Further clinical studies show that men taking the pill maintain sufficient hardness to engage in sexual intercourse. When the dosage is increased from 50 mg to 100 mg, patients saw an increase from 80% to 85% in the ability to maintain sufficient hardness.
