More and more men around the world are experiencing erectile dysfunction. Not being exactly sure why this is being coming more of a trend in men but the condition is seen among men of different ages. Older men are still holding the higher numbers when we talk about the frequency of erectile dysfunction, but we are seeing that younger men are also suffering from the condition.
Erectile dysfunction is the inability for a man to obtain and/or maintain an erection. This is something that can happen frequently or occasionally, whatever the case may be, it is consider to be erectile dysfunction when a man has issues with his erection. The definitive cause of erectile dysfunction is not exactly known but there are multiple things that could contribute to erectile dysfunction. Such things may include high blood pressure diabetes and heart conditions just to name a few things. The implications of erectile dysfunction are narrowing of the blood vessels, which subsequently causes the blood that flows to the penis to have a significantly decrease pressure and interrupt the possibility of an erection when sexually stimulated. The normal function of an erection involves an increased blood supply to the penis to encourage the smooth muscle in the penis to become erect. With this loss of adequate blood flow, the smooth muscle does not have enough pressure to withstand an erection.
Drugs on the market against erectile dysfunction
There are multiple drugs on the market to help treat erectile dysfunction. One of the most common drugs are Viagra. Viagra is a drug designed to temporarily relieve a man from the condition of erectile dysfunction. Viagra is by no means a cure for erectile dysfunction but it will temporarily reverse the effects experienced by the condition to restore the normal functioning of a man’s erection ability. The drug works in a way to relax the narrowing occurring in the blood vessels to normal size. This allows blood to flow freely back to its normal state and thus allows an erection to ensue when a man is sexually stimulated. Viagra should only be taken once in any 24 hour time period. The effects of Viagra last for about 4 hours, therefore a man should plan accordingly. It is not wise to double up on Viagra hoping to have a more enhanced and/or intense effect from the drug, rather the opposite effect will more than like occur. The drug may not work at all in dosage is increased by consumer or severe side effects may result such as erections lasting more than 4 hours, which can cause permanent damage to the penis. This damage can be much more damaging then what is already associated with the erectile dysfunction.
Prescription for Viagra
Considering the condition at hand and the drug available to help temporarily relieve the issue some may wonder why is this a topic of concern at all. Like with all conditions and drugs associated with the condition, people must be approved to take the drug. In Greece, men have gotten around the requirement of having to be approved to take the drug. Instead in Greek men are able to obtain the drug without a prescription and with great ease. Men may walk into a store front and purchase the drug over the counter or they may maintain their privacy and have the drug delivered to any private location that they wish. This approach offered in Greece to self-medicate causes concerns to arise, as men can essentially do what they want. There are men taking the drug in excess of the approved amount and/or taking the drug along with serious health conditions. This is a recipe for disaster. The consequences of taking Viagra when one is not approved to may be fatal.
Another concern that arise in the open availability that GREECE offers, questions the validity of the Viagra sold there
Since the market is so open in Greece, anyone can pretend to be a pharmacy and/or pharmacist, especially those businesses operating online. Even more dangerous than taking Viagra when a person is not approved to do so, is taking Viagra that is not a true representation of the drug. There has been numerous complaints of Viagra purchased being false representations of the legitimate drug. Unfortunately, when people purchase drugs through non-reputable avenues and facilities, they run the risk of obtaining drugs that may be falsified to make a buck.
On the brighter side of things, men that are usually not approved to take Viagra may be able to make lifestyle changes to help correct their health and ultimately be able to take Viagra or the health condition corrects their erectile dysfunction condition.
How Viagra Works: What to know before you start using
Viagra, otherwise known by its trade name Sildenafil, is a prescription drug used to help men who experience erectile dysfunction. Erectile dysfunction is basically male impotence, or the inability to achieve or retain an erection. Viagra is one of several drugs that are recognized as PDE-5 (phosphodiesterase type-five) inhibitors.
Several other drugs, such as Cialis (Tadalafil) and Levitra (Vardenafil), are similar to Viagra and have been shown to help men with erectile dysfunction by improving erectile response when sexual stimulation is provided. While Viagra does not cause males to become sexually aroused, once there is sexual arousal, Viagra helps to achieve and maintain an erection. When men are sexually stimulated, the nervous system located in the erectile tissue of the penis causes nitric oxide to be released. The nitric oxide, in turn, stimulates an enzyme that causes messenger cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) to be produced. The production of cGMP relaxes the smooth muscle cells and causes the arteries in the penis to dilate and helps blood to flow more easily to the penis and causes the erectile tissue to fill with blood. Together, these processes result in an erection. Viagra works by helping to maintain the level of cGMP in the smooth muscle cells. However, if there is no sexual arousal, the brain does not stimulate the release of nitric oxide and no CGMP will be produced, so arousal is key.
While Viagra may not be appropriate for everyone and may not work in all cases, clinical studies have shown that Viagra and other drugs in the same class have shown that when compared to a placebo, Viagra can result in significant improvement in treating erectile dysfunction.
Viagra has also been established as safe and effective
While Viagra can lower blood pressure slightly, this is not a problem for most male patients. However, Viagra should not be taken with nitrates, as Viagra can have an exaggerated effect on blood pressure if taken with with drugs containing nitrates. Men who are under treatment for heart problems should first consult their doctors before taking Viagra, as nitrates are often prescribed for angina. The combined effect of taking Viagra along with nitrates can result in death, by lowering blood pressure to a dangerous extent. When taken on an empty stomach, Viagra can become effective in under an hour and remain effective for four to six hours. If taken with a high fat meal, it may take longer than an hour to begin to work. There are three dosages of Viagra that are available. Viagra comes in 25 mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg tablets. It is best to start with a lower dose of Viagra, as some men respond well to the lowest dose.
Also, some men may already be taking prescription medication that may interact with Viagra, which requires the Viagra dosage to be adjusted. It is important to consult a medical doctor to determine what is the best dosage of Viagra. Doctors will consider potential drug interactions, the age of the patient, the severity or the impotence, and any previous experience or reactions to Viagra. Viagra may not work the first time it is taken. It may take up to eight times before Viagra begins to work.
Most of the side effects of Viagra are minimal and not long-lasting. The most common side effects of Viagra are headaches and facial flushing, indigestion or upset stomach, stuffy nose, and experiencing a blue tint to the vision. Men who have severe heart or liver problems, recent stroke or heart attack, low blood pressure, or certain rare inherited eye diseases should not take Viagra. It is also important for men to have certain blood tests before using Viagra, including blood tests for diabetes, cholesterol, and triglycerides.
Many doctors also test sex hormone levels, specifically testosterone, as well.
While other drugs, such as Cialis and Levitra work in similar ways as Viagra, Viagra is usually prescribed as the first line of treatment. Cialis may last longer as it has a much longer half-life, but it also means any side effects will last longer, as well. Cialis doesn’t increase the length of an erection, just the length of the window of time in which an erection can be achieved with sexual stimulation. Levitra has been shown to be more suitable for men with diabetes.
